When your senior loved one needs care but is not ready to leave their home, you can trust NOLA @ Home Care. We are a locally owned, Metairie-based in-home senior care company serving the Greater New Orleans area. We work closely with our clients and families to ensure we are meeting the specific needs of older adults to ensure the highest levels of premier in-home senior care.
Our company has a wonderful office staff led by our owner, Brian Flaherty. Brian is hands-on with every client and family we serve. He also plays an integral role in selecting our team, training the care staff, and managing the company's day-to-day operations. His motto for our company is simple, “We take great care of our clients and great care of our employees.”
A Vast Array of Home Care Services
Our fully insured care professionals are well-trained to support your loved ones so they can remain in their own homes and live independently. Enabling seniors to continue living at home with assistance gives them a better quality of life, reduces stress, and maintains a close relationship with their family members.
We support our clients with activities of daily living. We offer a wide variety of services, including bathing, grooming, meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and activity-based companionship. Our services range from short-term care after surgery to 24 hours of continuous in-home care. To make it easy to afford our services, we accept Long-Term Care Insurance, Veterans Benefits, Private Payment, and Workers’ Compensation. We also provide exceptional Alzheimer's and memory care services.
Frequently Asked Questions
Home Care and Home Health are often confused. Home Health would be more medical-related services such as: Physical Therapy, Nursing Care or Occupational Therapy. Home Care Services consist of Activities of Daily Living such as: Bathing, Grooming, Meal Preparation, Medication Reminders, Fall Prevention, Transportation Services and general Companionship.
You will want to check with your insurance provider to be 100% certain but most Health Insurance plans do not cover home care services. They are designed to support medical services vs. Activities of Daily Living. However, we do work with all Long-Term Care Insurance providers.
No, we do have a service agreement with all our clients, but this is not a long-term contract. Clients can end services with us with a short notification if care needs change or your loved one is hospitalized.
We do provide care for couples that would like to age in their home together and services do have a slight increase in cost. It would be best to call our Metairie office to discuss the details of the individuals needing care, so we can provide an accurate rate. It is not uncommon for us to provide elderly care for both parents, but we do like to write individual care plans for each person to ensure specific needs are met for both clients.
Yes, we have serviced hundreds of families with 24-hour care with some care lasting around the clock for several years. Our 24-Hour Care Services take a small team of ladies that work on rotating 12-hour shifts. The goal of 24-hour Care is to build a team of consistent care professionals that work seamlessly to ensure continuity in care and seamless coverage for your loved one.
Ideally, we would like to have several days to prepare and get care started but we understand families are not always allowed ample time. Our Care Management Team is available to meet same day or the following day (Monday-Friday and weekends by appointment). We meet with families on-site and in person to do an assessment of the elderly care needed to establish our formal Care Plan. We learn everything we can about the client to make a good personality match with the Care Professional. We also have some documentation to complete prior to starting private pay senior care services. Upon completion of the assessment and documentation we can generally start within a few days or sooner if needed.
Yes, NOLA @ Home Care is licensed through the State of Louisiana and Louisiana Department of Health. This is important to our families as the Department of Health regulations require our company to meet a wide variety of insurance requirements and financial viability. The regulations also require that we properly qualify all our employees through a criminal background check, drug screen, Louisiana care registry and sex offender registry screening.
It depends on the types of care your loved one needs. We understand that most seniors would like to age in the home, but unfortunately medical conditions can sometimes prevent that from being the best option. Feel free to call our Metairie office at 504-605-3993 or click here and we will be happy to discuss your individual care needs and help you determine if in-home care is a viable option. If in-home care is not the best solution, we will gladly help you get pointed in the right direction with referrals to several places that could be the ideal fit for the elderly care your loved one needs.
